Saab 9-3 Sport Track Car

Well, firstly, apologies for my absence. I joined, started posting, got involved, lost my job etc etc etc, and just never go around to coming back.

So now I am back, and at least I am back with a tail to tell!

For those that remember my brief initial outing onto OPL you will remember that I am some what of a Saab addict. Since I was last here I have managed to secure a job developing performance parts for Saabs. Yes, that is right, I get paid to play! Awesome.

Anyhow, as a reward to myself, I decided I needed to showcase our products and build something a little bit special. So, here it is, in glorious technicolour:-

Firstly, take one Saab 9-3 with paint damage cheap from an auction (and yes, that is me grinning like a mad man)

Sit down and carefully plan what you are going to do to it. Then strip it bare.

Cut out inner door skins

Take one Saab B207 2.0l Turbo engine, strip it, add camshafts, larger turbo, larger injectors, bespoke ECU, Forge Pistons etc and rebuild

Start to rebuild car adding custom accessories as you go along.

Lovely Forge intercooler

Put engine back in

Add one custom Safety Devices roll cage

Throw some 355mm 6 pot floating calipers into the mix.

Add one modified Saab Aero body kit

Some Saab 18" alloys to "just" stretch over the brakes

Prep car for vinyl wrap

Chuck it on the scales to see how you have done (standard car is 1487kg)

That is as far as we have got. Need to work on getting the weight right. Project was started at the beginning of June. Massive thanks has to go to the guys at Neo Brothers Ltd who are building the car, and their partners in Sweden, Maptun who provided the engine map and working with me developing the go faster (and slower, and round bend) goodies.

The car also has a Quaife gearbox and LSD fitted, and once run in will be pushing around 340BHP.

I thought I would share this with you as it is not the usual track car, rather something a little different.

Its inaugural outing will be at Mallory Park on the 2nd Oct, with the chance of a shake down run mid Sept at a venue to be arranged (once I have nursed 1000miles onto the freshly built engine - I hope my dentist is available at the end of it because this car is very very stiff).

I hope you enjoyed the brief photo update, but this car has come together so quickly it has amazed me.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the story of the "FUBINATOR".

Will update once it has been wrapped and is on the road, if you see it around (and you won't miss it trust me!), come over and say hi. Final rolling road tune will be early September, so will post the curves then.........

Still has a little more weight to lose as well, looking at Lexan windows at the moment.

Wish me luck

Wow, what a return! I like the look of those billet damper bodies. They look very trick.

No idea what that stain was! Given the car had been liberally covered in some very concentrated paint stripper, it would not surprise me if this was the result of some man's (or woman's) infidelity!

Needless to say it ain't in the car no more, replaced by my "comfort fit" Sebring Pro.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I will update when we get some more photo's.

Incidentally, Neo Brothers also track this:

Grinnall light weight. They dropped a Saab 9000 engine in the back, fully modified, running over 400BHP and 430lb.ft of torque. 720kgs. On Cadwell last year it was touching 165mph on Park Straight if the GPS is to be believed! Very very quick thing. Sadly I am too big to get in it (but that is a blessing in disguise I reckon!).
